S1gns Of L1fe App Privacy Policy

The S1gns Of L1fe app ("the app") is published by Chris Bryant (S1gns Of L1fe). This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: the app does not collect, store or share any personal data. Notifications are optional. They are delivered by Apple's iCloud and push notification services, and we never see who receives them.

What the app does not do

  • It has no accounts, sign-in, analytics, advertising or tracking.

  • It does not collect your name, email, location, contacts, photos or device identifiers.

  • It does not record which messages you open, read or tap.

  • It does not sell or share data with anyone.

What stays on your device

The app remembers a few preferences only on your device so it works the way you expect: items you save, which bonus items you have already opened (for "New" badges), dismissed announcements, layout choices, your notification choices (which kinds of messages you want and what time of day), and which Transmissions you have already read. This information never leaves your device and is deleted when you delete the app.

Transmissions and notifications

"Transmissions" are messages from Chris: daily inspiration, production tips, and, only if you choose them, announcements about new releases, news, live events, courses and coaching, and Bonus Vault drops.

  • Reading Transmissions needs nothing from you. The in-app inbox downloads Chris's public messages from Apple's iCloud (CloudKit). This works without notifications and without an iCloud account.

  • Notifications are optional and off until you say so. The app asks iOS for permission only after you choose to turn them on. The app works fully if you say no.

  • You choose each kind. Inspiration and Production Tips are selected when you first turn notifications on, and you can switch them off before you continue. Promotional kinds (New Releases, News & Updates, Live & Events, Studio & Learning, Bonus Vault Drops) are off unless you turn them on yourself. Turning one on means you agree to receive those promotional notifications.

  • Daily inspiration and tips are scheduled as notifications on your device at the time you pick. The day's message is downloaded like the inbox. Nothing about you is sent.

  • How push notifications reach you. When you turn on a kind of message, the app asks Apple's iCloud to notify you when Chris sends one. This uses the iCloud account already signed in on your device (the app never asks you to sign in). Apple keeps this request with your iCloud account under an anonymous, app-specific identifier and delivers the notification through the Apple Push Notification service. We cannot see your name, email, Apple Account, device or push token, or which kinds of messages you chose. Apple's handling of this information is covered by Apple's privacy policy (apple.com/privacy). Without an iCloud account, push notifications from Chris aren't available. The inbox and daily notifications still work.

Changing your mind

  • Turn any kind of Transmission on or off anytime in the app: Tools → Notification settings (also reachable from the gear in the Transmissions inbox). Turning a kind off removes your request for it from iCloud. Turn off all Transmissions removes them all.

  • You can also turn off all notifications for the app in iOS Settings → S1gns Of L1fe → Notifications.

  • Deleting the app removes everything stored on your device. Notifications stop because the app is no longer there to receive them. To remove your notification requests from iCloud as well, turn off all Transmissions in the app before deleting it.

Because we don't collect personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on our side. If you have questions, contact us below.

Content the app downloads

To show up-to-date content, the app downloads public files over the internet:

  • the app's content update file (hosted on GitHub),

  • Transmissions and the daily message queue (from Apple's iCloud),

  • the public YouTube video feed for the S1gns Of L1fe channel,

  • images and videos shown in the app (from the S1gns Of L1fe website, YouTube, Bandcamp, Studio, Apple's iCloud and similar hosts).

As with any internet request, those services receive standard technical information such as your IP address. No personal data is added by the app.

Links to other services

The app links to websites and apps such as YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp, Patreon, Gumroad, Studio and Instagram. Transmissions may include links to these too. When you open them, their own privacy policies apply. Videos play through YouTube's privacy-enhanced embed or the host's own player.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
